New Harley-Davidson 88 cubic inch engines,
prior to being mated to frames

The picture below, now downloading to your browser, depicts a skid full of the new 88 cubic inch Harley-Davidson Big Twin engines. This stack of skids contains only the 88" engines. This was the scene, at the 1998 Harley-Davidson Open-House, in York, PA. The new engine features two camshafts. Previously, the Evolution Big Twin had only one camshaft. There are numerous other improvements on the engine, as well.

The "protective plastic", covering each engine prevented a clearer photograph of the new, more powerful engine.
